Krka Ataxxa Spot-On Dog 3 pipettes.

  • For the treatment and prevention of fleas.

  • Spot-on remedy for the dog that works within 1 day after treatment

  • Effective for 4 weeks

  • Also contains permethrin*

  • Can be used in case of flea allergy

  • Fleas present on the dog are killed within one day of treatment.

A one-time treatment prevents further flea infestation for four weeks. The veterinary drug can be used as part of a treatment strategy against flea allergy dermatitis (VAD).

Ataxxa is a spot-on remedy and is effective against fleas. It can be used if your dog has fleas or to prevent your dog from getting fleas. In addition, it is repellent against ticks, mosquitoes and sand flies. This spot-on works against fleas within 1 day and is effective for 4 weeks. It can also be used in case of flea allergy.

The product remains effective against fleas when the animal gets wet. After weekly immersion in water for one minute, the period of persistent insecticide efficacy against fleas is not reduced. However, prolonged intensive exposure to water should be avoided. In cases of frequent and/or prolonged exposure to water, persistent efficacy might be reduced. In those cases, do not re-treat more often than once a week. If the dog requires shampooing, it would be better to do so before treatment with the veterinary drug or at least two weeks after, in order to optimize the effectiveness of the product

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Spot-on use only. Use only on intact skin.

Take one pipette from the package. Hold the pipette upright. Tap the narrowest part of the pipette to ensure the contents are in the wide part of the pipette. Twist and remove the cap. Replace the cap upside down, twist to break the seal and remove the cap again.

For dogs up to 10 kg body weight:

While the dog is standing still, push the hair between the shoulder blades apart until the skin becomes visible. Place the open end of the pipette on the skin and squeeze the pipette firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin.

For dogs over 10 kg body weight:

While the dog is standing still, apply the entire contents of the pipette evenly to four spots on the back from shoulder to base of tail. At each spot, press the hairs apart until the skin becomes visible. Place the open end of the pipette on the skin and squeeze gently to drip some of the contents directly onto the skin. Do not apply too much to a single spot; otherwise, some of the solution may run off the dog's side.

Krka Ataxxa Spot-On is a powerful and reliable solution for dogs that need protection against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and sandflies. Thanks to the combination of imidacloprid and permethrin, this spot-on remedy works within just 1 day and provides up to 4 weeks of protection against new infestation. Ataxxa is suitable for both treatment for existing fleas and for prevention, and can also be used for dogs with flea allergy (VAD).

Ataxxa remains effective when your dog gets wet, making it ideal for active dogs that like to play outside. After short, weekly water exposure, the product remains effective, but prolonged swimming or frequent washing can reduce protection. Therefore, preferably have your dog washed before or at least two weeks after treatment for optimal results.

The spot-on pipette is easily applied to intact skin, between the shoulder blades or - in larger dogs - in four spots along the back. Fleas on the dog are killed within 24 hours, and a one-time treatment prevents a new infestation for a full month.

Ataxxa is available in different strengths to suit your dog's weight. For dogs over 40 kg, pipettes can be combined.

Note: This remedy is not suitable for cats, puppies under 7 weeks of age, dogs under 1.5 kg and during pregnancy or lactation. Permethrin is extremely toxic to cats.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to the animals:

Avoid contact of the veterinary drug with the skin, eyes or mouth. Do not eat, drink or smoke during administration. Wash hands thoroughly after use. In case of accidental spillage on skin, wash immediately with soap and water. Persons with known skin hypersensitivity may be particularly sensitive to this veterinary drug. The main clinical signs that could occur in extremely rare cases are sensory skin irritations of a transient nature, such as tingling, burning or numbness. If the veterinary drug accidentally gets into the eyes, flush abundantly with water. If skin or eye irritation persists or if the veterinary medicinal product is accidentally swallowed, consult a physician immediately and show him/her the package insert or label. In particular, children should not handle treated animals until the administration site is dry. This could be ensured by treating the animals in the evening. To prevent children from contact with the pipettes, keep the pipettes in the original packaging until use and dispose of used pipettes immediately.

Other precautions:

The solvent in the veterinary drug could affect various materials including leather, fabric, plastic and delicate surfaces. Allow the administration site to dry before contact with such surfaces is allowed. Treated dogs should not be admitted to any form of surface water under any circumstances for at least 48 hours after treatment because the veterinary drug is harmful to aquatic organisms.

Side effects:

(frequency and severity) Itching, hair loss, erythema, edema and erosions at the administration site may occur. Usually these disappear spontaneously. In very rare cases, dogs may exhibit behavioral changes (agitation, restlessness, howling or rolling), gastrointestinal symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, hypersalivation, decreased appetite) and neurological signs, such as irregular movements and muscle tremors or lethargy in dogs sensitive to the permethrin component. These symptoms are generally transient and usually disappear on their own. Accidental oral ingestion may result in transient vomiting and neurologic symptoms, such as tremor and incoördination. Treatment should be symptomatic. No specific antidote is known. The frequency of adverse reactions is defined as follows: - Very common (more than 1 in 10 animals exhibit adverse reaction(s) for the duration of one treatment) - Common (more than 1 but less than 10 in 100 animals) - Uncommon (more than 1 but less than 10 in 1,000 animals) - Rare (more than 1 but less than 10 in 10,000 animals) - Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 animals, including isolated reports)

Use during gestation or lactation:

The safety of the drug has not been proven during gestation and lactation. In these animals, use only in accordance with the benefit/risk assessment of the treating veterinarian.

Interaction(s) with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction None known.

OVERDOSAGE (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes):

No adverse clinical signs were observed in healthy puppies or in adult dogs after exposure to a fivefold overdose or in puppies whose mothers had been treated with a threefold overdose of the veterinary drug. The severity of skin erythema, which occasionally occurs at the administration site, increases with (over)dosage.
