What is glucosamine?

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates the buildup of synovial fluid, thereby keeping the joint lubricated and flexible. As the animal ages, glucosamine production decreases. Additional intake of glucosamine, through a dietary supplement may be desirable.

The most commonly used form of glucosamine in dietary supplements is glucosamine sulfate, derived from the shells (casings) of seafood. This is the best absorbable form. The recommended daily dose provides the body with 1500 mg of glucosamine sulfate, which is equivalent to 1200 mg of elemental glucosamine.

Sulfur belongs (with calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus) to the macrominerals that occur naturally in the body. It also occurs in food but not in high amounts.

DOSAGE Pharmox Horse & Pony Glucosamine:
The recommended daily dose of 100 ml is suitable for horses weighing 550 kg to 600 kg (adult warmblood). For lighter or heavier horses and ponies, the dosage can be converted proportionally.

Distribute the dose measured for your horse or pony over the feed once daily.

Use Pharmox Horse & Pony Glucosamine:
For first use or use as a cure, administer for at least 60 days. In older horses the maximum duration of use is unlimited.
