Advantix

Advantix with the active ingredients Permethrin and Imidacloprid is a fast acting agent that works against fleas, ticks and lice. It is also a remedy that repels ticks, sand flies, mosquitoes and stable flies. These parasites can transmit various diseases to your dog. Advantix's repellent reduces this risk. Advantix is a spot-on anti-flea and tick remedy for dogs and is applied with pipettes. Advantix creates the so-called hot foot effect. Ticks that land on the coat of the treated dog react as if they are walking on a hot plate. They have no time to attach themselves and fall to the ground where they die.

It is critical to prevent the tick from biting the animal. Ticks are carriers of serious diseases, such as Babesiosis and Lyme disease. As long as they do not attach themselves, they cannot transmit those germs to the host, and your dog and yourself remain healthy. In fact, ticks can transmit diseases to you, too. Ticks already present on the dog should be removed with a tick hook or tick forceps, for example. Advantix also remains effective after exposure to water. However, you better not wash the dog directly after applying the pipette.

How quickly does Advantix work?

Advantix works within 24 hours. The remedy is suitable for dogs with flea allergies.

How long does Advantix work?

  • Advantix protects your dog against new fleas for 4 weeks.

  • Kills ticks and protects your dog from new ticks for 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Kills biting lice.

  • Protects your dog from sand flies (2 to 3 weeks), mosquitoes (2 to 4 weeks) and stable flies (4 weeks).

How often do you use Advantix?

To protect against fleas and ticks, it is enough to administer a new pipette of Advantix every 4 weeks. If you use it for protection against sand flies, you may give one pipette every 2 weeks.

Which Advantix do I need for my dog?

Dogs with a body weight of 1.5 - 4 kg: Advantix 40/200

Dogs with a body weight of 4 - 10 kg: Advantix 100/500

Dogs with a body weight of 10 - 25 kg: Advantix 250/1250

Dogs with a body weight of 25 - 40 kg: Advantix 400/2000

Dogs with a body weight of 40 - 60 kg: Advantix 600/3000

Drip the contents of the pipette between the hairs on the intact skin between your dog's shoulder blades. For dogs heavier than 10 kg, it is recommended to distribute the contents of the pipette evenly in four different places from the shoulder blades to the base of your dog's tail.

When is it better not to use Advantix?

Advantix should not be used on all cats, puppies younger than 7 weeks, puppies with a body weight under 1.5 kg and dogs that are hypersensitive to the active ingredients or excipients. For cats, use the Seresto Cat.

What are the benefits of Advantix?

Advantix contains Permethrin and Imidacloprid as active ingredients. This combination makes it effective against most insects and arachnids as well as having a repellent effect. Imidacloprid works against both adult and larval flea stages. Because of this, it can also be used in dogs with flea allergies. It has a repellent, i.e. anti-feeding, effect against ticks, sand flies and mosquitoes and thus reduces the risk of diseases transmitted by these parasites.

The drug is safe to administer during pregnancy and lactation.

What side effects does Advantix have?

Like any veterinary drug, Advantix can have side effects. These are usually limited to transient skin hypersensitivity or lethargy. This usually goes away on its own without treatment. In very rare cases, behavioral changes, gastrointestinal upset and nervous symptoms may occur. These, too, are transient and usually go away on their own. Should your dog lick up the product in large quantity, neurological symptoms may occur which should be treated symptomatically by the veterinarian.

For your information
If there is a high density of ticks in the environment, some ticks may still break through the protection of the drops. Unfortunately, no flea and/or tick product can offer 100% protection. Therefore, it remains important to check your dog daily for ticks and remove them if you find them.

Advantix is one of the most complete spot-on solutions for dogs who need reliable protection against fleas, ticks, lice and stinging insects such as mosquitoes, sand flies and stable flies. Thanks to the powerful combination of Permethrin and Imidacloprid, Advantix not only works quickly - within 24 hours - but also has a strong repellent effect, giving parasites virtually no chance to bite or transmit disease. This makes the product ideal for dogs that are at extra risk during walks, vacations or stays in areas with many ticks and insects.

With up to 4 weeks of protection against fleas and 3-4 weeks against ticks, Advantix provides long-term security and comfort. The pipettes are easy to apply to the skin and remain effective even after contact with water. Choose the right dosage based on your dog's weight and effectively protect him from discomfort and parasite-related health problems. Advantix is safe to use on pregnant and lactating bitches and provides a complete, easy-to-use solution for any dog owner seeking maximum parasite control.
